Bird banding on Kelley's Island, Ohio. The bird is a Red-breasted Nuthatch.

Meet the Owner
Butch Tetzlaff

Birds and birding have been my passion for over 30 years. With an ecology degree in hand and several years of Master's Degree work in ornithology, I have always enjoyed keeping current about the world of birds.

My enjoyment of birds has also been a wonderful excuse to travel and see some of the best places our planet has to offer. In that quest, I have recorded bird sightings in 28 states and 7 countries. Several years ago, I obtained a Federal Marking Permit allowing me to band birds for research purposes. I am currently the President of the Inland Bird Banding Association, have founded the Bella Vista Backyard Bird Count, organize the local section of the Audubon Christmas Bird Count, and volunteer each spring at Hobbs State Park giving presentations during the "Birds and Breakfast" program. Now as the owner of The Bluebird Shed, I get to talk to wonderful people who enjoy birds every day.

I'd love to hear your bird stories, so please stop by The Bluebird Shed and share your bird feeding (and birding) experiences!

Quin Warsaw

I am a nature and wildlife photographer, and birder with Autism. I first became interested in birds when practicing my camera skills in my own backyard. I have now photographed over 175 species of birds in Arkansas. I now provide photography for Northsong Wild Bird Rehabilitation center as well as local publications such as the Weekly Vista. I own two pet birds, "Bella" a Cockatiel and "Vista" a Bourke. I have been a Bella Vista Bluebird Box Monitor, am a Northwest Arkansas Master Naturalist, a member of the Bella Vista Birders group and the Bella Vista Photography Club.

Meet the Team
Sue Gustafson

I've been a birder for over 30 years. In that time, I obtained a Master's degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, worked 25 years as a licensed veterinary technician, and travelled all over Central America on birding expeditions. I led field trips for the St. Louis Audubon Society and served as President of the Audubon Society of Missouri, and I currently assist in leading field trips for the Bella Vista Birder's Group. You can probably find me out hiking with my dog, Peach, or kayaking the Bella Vista lakes when I'm not helping The Bluebird Shed as their public outreach coordinator and field research assistant.
